How to reach Baralikaadu?
Baralikadu is around 69kms from the Coimbatore center that can be reached via Mettupalayam or Karamadai. You can even take up the less tamed beautiful road strips from Anaikatti that costs you only half of the 70kms strip. Baralikadu is a reserved ecotourism hub tucked away near Nellithurai near Mettupalayam.
The tourism is structured to improve the betterment of the tribal people residing in villages and hills nearby as a result of which all the staff and other operations are occupied by the tribal people themselves who welcome you with a warm smile cladded in bright green uniforms.
The road till Nellithurai as we all know is nothing short of road that’s close reminecens of the god’s own artwork. But the ride uphill to Baralikadu can be a bit bumpy, we can’t complain much as the roads are often narrow, laid amidst the forest. There are deep valleys cut down near the road that act as a barrier between the Spot and wild tsukers.
There are two checkpoints before you touchdown the ecotourism spot. Both the checkpoints ensure you have proper tickets and a list of guests entered on their website while booking the tickets.

What welcomes you first is a huge lawn like set up with tall trees with swings for kids and places where you can anchor down to crash after a tiring road trip. There are roughly 40 coracle boats anchored that can accommodate close to 150 guests at a time. Once you board the coracle boat, your soothing boat ride amidst the water from the saintly looking Pillur Dam unfolds with a breathtaking view of Baralikadu. You can even request a 360 spin that offers a scenic view of the Western Ghats painting the backdrop.
After a brief ride before you touch down the main spot, you will be anchored at a small getaway point for a leisure 15 minutes break where you can click some good looking photos after which the pleasant boat ride resumes and finally you get at the other end of the shore.
There is also a melodic stream of river passing by where you can take a short dive into the water for a quick shower to break free from the tiring scorching heat and to find the chillness of water gracing your body as a wave of melody passes by.
