Coimbatore: Marudhamalai Murugan temple considered to be one among the 7 prominent temples for Lord Murugan has always been in the news to celebrate Thaipusam exquisitely every year. The temple sees thousands of devoted pilgrims travelling from every street of Tamil Nadu carrying Kavadi and Paal Kudam to offer to Lord Muruga to get his blessings. 2021’s Thaipusam is all set to commence with a traditional flag hoist tomorrow between 7 – 8am.
Director of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department Director said that the popular Temple Car ceremony has been called off in the lights of ongoing Covid-19. While other prominent ceremonies of the auspicious day like Thirukalyanam are scheduled during the early hours of 3am on January 28th as Vastu Shanti and Vinayagar Pooja starting tonight.
While the Temple Car ceremony has been canceled, Subramania Swamy along with Goddesses Valli and Deivanai are taken on a street visit, cleared the Director of the board. The director of the board also said that owing to the current festives, the timings for the pilgrim visits shall be restricted in Marudhamalai from 27th evening to 28th morning 7am. The restrictions shall be lifted after 28th 7am for Thaipusam festivities.
