Masinagudi is at 114 kms from Coimbatore center via Ooty main road and approximately 30kms from Ooty center. The roads are pretty deep and narrow, with checkposts at the start making sure you don’t pass the roads at night citing safety reasons, something which we really standby considering the elephants and wild cats roaming the streets quite predominantly.
The western ghats is quite evident as it paints the backdrop quite beautifully with the twisted roads often letting us know the emmaculate beauty of Ooty as we all know it.
How to reach Masinagudi
Once you reach the foothills of Masinagudi it’s a straight road down the lane till the center of the place, where you get to see shops and bus stops, the only sight of concrete buildings in your hour long journey from Ooty.
The view on both your sides are unrivalled, something straight out of a thick dark jungle with deers gracing the moments making it even more memorable and lovely. There’s café coffee day to your right side after passing approximately 3 to 5 kms.
The roads are really beautiful with no vehicles hustling by or honking that can drive people up the wall. The views are exceptional offering people a panoramic view of the whole place that can take the word mind blowing to a whole new level.

2. Maravakandy dam
Maravakandy dam is another gift to anyone who loves some wholesome experience of dams, water and bird chirping sounds at its finest. A must visit place in Masinagudi if you are head over heels in love with some raw wildlife and nature photography. The old dam was built in 1951 and is now a huge popular tourist attraction here.
3. Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary
Once you are done checking out the exquisite dam, now it’s time we move up the charts and pay a visit to the wildlife sanctuary which is a beauty in every words. This also happens to be one of the busiest and most sought after places in Masinagudi thanks to the frequent sighting of some of the rare wildlife and endangered species making it a must visit place in our bucket list.
Formally known as Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary, this is home to many majestic looking Bengal tigers and wild tuskers, leopards as well. On a scale of 10, you would hit a 11 probably for every time you could spot a deer looking beautifully right into your camera lenses. They also offer a unique safari to scout the forest and the best time to visit the sanctuary must be somewhere between December and June.
4. Moyar River
Moyar river is another masterstroke carved at 6kms from Masinagudi and this happens to be the line of border that separates Bandipur national park from Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary, which also means house to more pretty and dangerous animals.
Starting from a village called Moyar, Moyar river is a tributary to the Bhavani river. A famous spot for the locals and tourists alike, the beauty lies in the raw nature of the stream that pictureistically falls into the lap of western ghats making it a surreal eye candy for the viewers.
