A trip from Coimbatore to Valparai
The journey would have been a lot more spectacular if we did a bit of time travel 15 years back when the roads were a feast for the eyes. These roads arguably were one of the finest Coimbatore people ever knew back then with tall trees and its branches hovering over the roads giving out a blanket like cover above us protecting from the scorching sun.

The trees were a blissful addition, a 100kms drive through lush green ambiance can melt even the strongest heart in a jiffy. Back when the riding culture was still a taboo or more like something people weren’t quite aware of, the roads were tantalizing enough for the truckers and other people who used this road as a daily commuting space.
A highway that’s worth remembering for its journey rather than the destination itself, Coimbatore pollachi highways indeed was a glorious quotient.
Every good thing must come to an end and so did the blissful essence sparkling from the road trips. Tall handsome trees were replaced with hovering bridges and wide roads, giving in to the clutches of urbanization. What was once a beautiful road of trees now turns out to be a road filled with bustling cars and honking trucks.
But it did bite a huge chunk off the travelling time. Now the roads are so wide, with a lot of restaurants and refreshment centers on the side, we can’t really complain about the inevitable entry of Modernization into the picture. Pollachi however seems largely unchanged from the due pressure of urban culture. It still sticks to its centuries old formula of vibing with nature.
Valparai is at 60kms (approx) from Pollachi and the brief ride feels refreshing, a dose of freedom from the bustling life back in Manchester city. You can never run short of the restaurants or hotels on your way as there are tonnes of varieties and options to choose from.
