Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu State Highway Department has proposed a plan to construct a four-lane flyover at Saravanampatti, Thudiyalur, Singanallur, and Saibaba Colony junctions.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has recently given a green signal to construct flyovers at Saravanampatti and Singanllur. The sanctions for Thudiyalur and Saibaba colony are expected to be given shortly.
It is noted that the Highways Department has clarified that all the flyovers will be measured at 1.5km each except the Singanlllur junction which is expected to inch towards the 2km mark.
The budget for the Saravanampatti flyover is calculated at ₹ 80.48 crores and Singanallur is given ₹ 141 crores. All the four flyovers are four-lane to ease the traffic congestion better.
The bids will be initiated only after the officials receive the copy of the sanctioned project which will be further analyzed for the designs. The department is affirmative of rolling out the project in early April.
K. Kathirmathiyon, secretary of Coimbatore Consumer Cause, has said these flyovers will be really helpful for the city as it has now seen a drastic increase in traffic congestions all over the place.
The NH department is keen on completing the pending flyovers before commencing the new project as this will ease out any possible traffic blocks.
